I know, it's been a long time since my last post...even for me! I've been locked away working on a not-for-profit organization geared to help babies in our local NICU and PICU. I'll tell you all about it in my next post, and it won't be weeks this time!
Katie has gone from a non-eating baby to an eatin-everything-in-sight-baby a week ago! This is SO exciting for us! As you may know (if you happened to read Katie's story) she gave up all her bottles at about 9 months (when I say "gave up" I mean she'd hit her bottle like it was a bat flying around her head...she hated it) and turned up her little nose up to all food, ALL the time. Well, I have no idea what happened, but as of one week ago she has been inhaling everything we give her. Hmmm, I guess I have SOME idea. Last Monday my mom decided to let her eat all of her food on her own. Cutting it all up and leaving it on her highchair tray. Apparently we've been stifling her independence, because she's been eating on her own ever since!
So far she's had Strawberries, Avocado, Toast, Potatoes, Cantaloupe, Noodles, Scrambled Eggs and more! I'm SO excited to finally see her gain some weight. Katie is 16 months old and only weighs about 18 lbs or so. She's very petite, but she could definitely use some pudgy baby rolls.
We've even had to resort to spelling out the names of food when talking to each other or she goes crazy thinking she's getting more even if she's full and doesn't really want it.
On a not so cheery note...
On the exact same day that she started to eat like a sumo wrestler she decided that she hates sleeping. She used to go to bed giggling and now it's a screamfest. Naps and nighttime are not much fun around here right now. Luckily she is so excited to get some alone time with Chris that she'll go to sleep at night if he sleeps with her.
Since her sleep is already terrible at the moment we decided to try and move her out of our room and into her room. Yup, she's been sleeping with us since she caught a bad cold. About 8 months ago! LOL
So far it's going pretty well. She's spent 2 nights in her room on a double mattress on the floor...with Chris sleeping with her. Poor guy, his back is broken. We tried to put her in her crib but she took one look at it and let us know that was never going to happen. She makes her wishes VERY clear. :)
We'll take eating over sleeping any day!

Here is a photo of Katie wearing a gift from Amanda at Cutie Pa Tutus! Amanda is such a sweet woman. She read our blog and made a tutu just for Katie! It's adorable and Katie LOVES playing with it.
I promised her some good photos for her site. Amanda, I will get some over to you. I haven't been able to get any "good" ones yet!
