We have a little routine that Katie loves... it's being quizzed with the spelling of words. It's really crazy. At first we just thought it was memorization, but it became clear that she really understands the sounds of letters and can figure out words that she has never heard before. We've been shocked a number of times, and so we finally decided we should put this on video before she gets too old and no one is impressed any more.

This is our exact story!! So awesome. I figured it was memory, too but the bird has a very clear understanding of phonetics. Reading came first for her, though. Since so many things are so hard for our girls, it's awesome when something comes so easy :)
